CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT

The normal clutch lever free play is 10 - 20mm (0.4 - 0.8 in.) at the lever end. To adjust, perform the following steps.

1. Loosen the lock nuts (2) and (4) and turn the adjusting bolts (1) and (3) all the way in the direction (A).

2. Remove the clutch cover. Loosen the lock nut (6) and turn the adjusting screw (5) in the direction (C) until a slight resistance is felt. From this position, turn the screw (5) in the direction (D) 1/4 - 1/2 turn. Tighten the lock nut (6).

3. Turn the cable adjusting bolt (3) in the (B) direction so that there is approx. 26mm (3/4") of lever free play. The remaining clutch lever free play is obtained by the clutch cable adjusting bolt (1).

4. After the adjustment has been made, check to see that the clutch is not slipping and that the clutch is properly engaging.
